Oh Canada

In preparation for the retirement of my 2.5 year old LG Chocolate phone, I decided it would be good to filter through the hundreds of pictures that I have taken. It took me some time to text message the 58 pixs - which I decided were important - to my email address. I found this image in the mix. This photograph was taken while driving to the Canadian border. Why Canada? I was on a expedition to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to attend the wedding of my roommate Elyse. I believe this monument is called the International Peace Arch. I wish I had time to grab my SLR to take this photo, but it just proves that it is possible to take a nice photograph with a little phone camera.

The Future Harpist

I'm working on a project documenting children and their dreams for their future. Here are a couple images of the first shoot. I'm still trying to refine the project and create a title that sums up all my ideas. Some names that I am toying around with have been "Future Stars" or The Future Generation." I'm looking to photograph children that have a strong idea of what they want to be when they grow up and are working towards that goal. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Shooting Excursion w/ Friends & their Shotguns

Last Monday I went shooting for the first time in my life. I definitely surprised myself, as well as others with my shooting abilities. After the first day I pretty much was hooked and therefore found myself 5 days later on another shooting excursion. The second time around I armed myself with my trusty camera. Here are some images from that day. I probably should have taken a photograph of myself but there is always next time.

South West of Utah Lake

I found myself Saturday on the South West corner of Utah Lake looking back to the little bubble of my universe called "Provo." I photographed this same scene about 40 minutes before thinking that the perspective created a beautiful image. But then as the clouds rolled in and the sun set it all came into play. I grabbed my camera and re-shot the panorama.

During this whole process a statement can to mind that one of my photography teachers made years ago. He said something to the effect "Try to avoid the cliché of photographing a sunset, but instead challenge yourself to turn around and focus on the object the sun is illuminating."

The Peterson Swing Set

This is part of an on going personal project that I've been working on. I photographed my niece on our family swing set that my dad and grandpa built. I have little memory of this swing set not being in my parent's backyard. Located in the top left corner of the set, my name is carved into the wood. I use to have a wood rocking horse below my name but unfortunately it is now deceased.

Texaco

Sometimes I wish I lived in the era of old gas stations and soda shops, but then I remember I probably wouldn't fit in very well.

Street Light off Thunderhead

I've probably seen this street light a million times during my life. I was not a huge fan of the orange cast from the sodium vapor lamp, so I eliminated it by using a bleaching process in lightroom.

Downtown P-Town

Masonry Work of Downtown Provo, Utah.

We are surrounded by art everyday, however I think a lot of art goes unnoticed. I have a secret love for architecture and even more specifically historic architecture. I am continually impressed with the talent of past Masons who created gorgeous work without the access to modern technology. Since I don't ever think I can make it in life as a sculptor at least I can photograph other's creations.

San Diego LDS Temple

I meant to go spend time photographing the San Diego Temple but there was just too little time. Shot this from the I-5 on my way home from a family outing.

Where I'm from: Sundance Park

I've started an on going project that will probably take forever to complete. I'll be creating a series of work involving photographs of where I came from. Essentially I'll be photographing important places from my home town.

Sundance Park

A right, A left and one last right coming from my house is a park of my childhood.
